SirSluginston License for Infrastructure and Monetization across Environments (SLIME) v0.3.0
A source-available, revenue-sharing software license. Your infrastructure is always covered first.
What This Is
"No one starves before anyone eats."
The SirSluginston License for Infrastructure and Monetization across Environments (SLIME) is a source-available software license. Every deployer's infrastructure costs are covered by the revenue their site generates before SirSluginston Co earns a dollar.
Source-available is not open source. Source-available means the code is published so you can verify exactly how it works. Ownership and direction remain with SirSluginston Co.
You pay your cloud provider directly. SirSluginston Co never sees your cloud bill or credentials. The CreatedBy tag scopes Cost Explorer to resources the adapter provisioned — it does not grant SirSluginston Co any account access.
Working draft — not binding until reviewed by a licensed attorney.
The Solvency Cap
The Solvency Cap determines which publisher ID serves ads at any given moment.
Cap = ceil(monthly_infrastructure_cost / CPM_rate * 1000)
CPM_rate starts at $1.50. Self-calibrates to your domain's real ad performance after the first cap is hit.
| Impressions | Publisher ID | Who Earns |
|---|---|---|
| Below cap | Your publisher ID | You (directly from your ad network) |
| At or above cap | SirSluginston Co's | SirSluginston Co |
SirSluginston Co earns nothing if your site never hits its cap.
How It Works in Practice
The impression count is maintained at api.sirsluginston.com/beacon. Every AdSlot render reports to it; the Beacon returns a signed session token telling your AdSlots which publisher ID is active.
Cap Adjustments
A daily Lambda in your cloud account queries your cost data (filtered to the SirSluginstonCLI tag) and writes actual spend to COST_SUMMARY in your database. Your admin panel reads this for the per-service breakdown.
Adjusts automatically in both directions as your actual costs change.
Formal Acceptance
Before accessing the admin panel on a production deployment, the licensed admin accepts SLIME through an in-app modal on first admin login.
Recorded: domain, admin email, license version, timestamp. No IP address stored.
Local development is excluded — no acceptance requirement, no data transmitted, no enforcement.
Deployment Method
Core is deployed exclusively through official adapter packages:
@sirsluginston/local-adapter— local development@sirsluginston/aws-adapter— production on AWS- GCP adapter — planned
Adapter-only deployment ensures the Beacon is correctly wired and all SLIME-required files are in place.
The Health Check System
A Guard Lambda in your own AWS account runs daily, pinging api.sirsluginston.com/beacon and receiving an Ed25519-signed token stored in your DynamoDB with a 36-hour expiry.
API temporarily unreachable: Stored token covers up to 36 hours. No escalation for genuine outages.
Token lapsed: Graduated restoration at 36h (internal promos) → 72h (admin notice, saves work) → 1 week (saves locked) → 2 weeks (public banner). Every effect fully reversible on next valid renewal.
What You Can Do
- Read, inspect, and audit the source code
- Deploy Core to build and operate your own site, through official adapters
- Customize your deployment privately (no redistribution)
- Configure ad placement via the PageBuilder
- Contact admin@sirsluginston.com if your needs fall outside this license
How the Partnership Works
The Beacon Must Remain in the Shell. Must stay functional and authorized to reach api.sirsluginston.com/beacon.
The AdSlot System Must Remain Intact. Publisher ID resolution must not be suppressed, replaced, or hardcoded.
Attribution Must Remain Visible. All public pages must include a visible "Powered by SirSluginston: Core" footer link to sirsluginston.com/docs.
ads.txt Must Remain Intact. SirSluginston Co must be listed as an authorized seller.
Ad Slots
The AdSlot component is a platform-owned asset. You control where it appears and on which pages.
You may not modify the publisher ID resolution logic. When your site exceeds its cap, the system switches the active publisher ID automatically — no site disruption.
What Breaks the Agreement
- Tampering with the ad system (hardcoding publisher IDs, blocking Beacon pings, modifying cap logic)
- Redistributing the software as a competing site platform
- Building a direct competitor using this software
Willful violations may result in license revocation or legal remedies. Honest mistakes are managed through the graduated health check response.
No Warranty
SirSluginston Core is provided as-is. This license creates no obligation to provide support, maintenance, or updates.
Working draft — to be reviewed by a licensed attorney prior to public release.
Why This Exists
"No one starves before anyone eats." The Solvency Cap is a technical guarantee encoded into every deployment.
The ad revenue above the cap funds continued development of Core, Ocean, Intellect, Commerce, and the Mascot Library — all freely available to every deployer.
Source availability ensures you can verify that's true by reading exactly how the ad publisher ID is resolved.
